Setup in jungles amidst nature's weirdest animals, Zapp is an allegory about individual freedom in contemporary society wherein a happy-go-lucky squirrel travels across the world in search of meaning, freedom and ironically, a sane society. The protagonist, Zapp, is a squirrel who challenges the status-quo of the entire jungle because he is not satisfied living at the bottom of the food chain. The problem: Zapp is only 2 days old! Ousted by his own community for making friends with their biggest enemy, a snake, Zapp sets off on his journey across the forests of Pinegrove. This is where the adventure begins, in which Zapp makes the unlikeliest friends; an old wisecrack eagle and a lovesick female snake, and manages to infect them with his lust for life and freedom. In his quest for the meaning of life, Zapp travels through many forests visiting the tricky monkeys, the smart elephants, the lazy cows, the dumb donkeys, the disciplined ants and the orthodox lemmings, learning something new everywhere. In his innocence and zest he finds himself entangled in one situation as soon as he gets out of another; in the close knit society of lemmings, he defends himself against an illusory (but apparently grave) crime in a never ending trial; while in another similarly dysfunctional society he is, supposedly, a messiah because they believe he can teach pigs how to fly! Along his way, Zapp thinks he has found a soul-mate in a vagabond and nonchalant rabbit called Id, who tells him about a mysterious and wise tortoise called Dault. Zapp is assured that his quest for life will be answered when he finds Dault and sets out looking for him. But his quest will turn into a tizzy when he realizes that Daultis looking for him!
