Para Joël Dicker, "la curiosidad es algo innato en nosotros". El joven maestro del suspense contemporáneo nació en Ginebra, Suiza (1985). Ha sido un escritor muy precoz, alcanzando el éxito editorial a la temprana edad de veintisiete años con La verdad sobre el caso Harry Quebert. Su primera lectura fue La Glorie, del destacado pediatra y pedagogo Janusz Korczak y se declara admirador de los lobos. De hecho, entre sus obras de cabecera se encuentran El lobo estepario, de Hermann Hesse, o Colmillo Blanco, de Jack London. A Joël, sin embargo, le habría encantado ser músico.
