Soils can rarely be described as ideally plastic or perfectly plastic, but simple plastic and elastic models form the basis for traditional geotechnical engineering calculations. This book describes the basic ingredients of a family of simple elastic?plastic models of soil behaviour and demonstrates how such models can be used in numerical analysis.
