Aegean prehistory as a discipline has been around for a while now although concern over its growing marginalisation from other disciplines and a tendency to move away from its core interests and aims, have led to some pessimism over its future direction. In 2003 a workshop held at the Kelsey Museum of Archaeology at the University of Michigan aimed to provide a forum for discussing the current state, status and future for Aegean prehistory. A small group of scholars presented their thoughts on the `state of health' of the subject, as well as institutional and educational issues, and what needs to be done to make the subject more `interdisciplinary, inclusive and rigorous' in the future.
