This is a study of the writings of Pausanias, a native of Asia Minor who chronicled his extensive travels in Greece in the second century AD. It includes the first detailed examination of Pausanias' view of Roman involvement in Greece and his attitude to the Roman emperors, as well as his approach to the art and artists of the pre-Roman past of Greece.
