As with many Scottish communities, much of Barrhead's and Neilston's pasts are tied into industrial activity. They were two of many Scottish villages situated on fast flowing rivers to see their populations explode dramatically due to the expanding cotton industry in the late 18th and 19th centuries, only to fall just as dramatically as the 20th century brought a severe depression in textiles. This volume takes a photographic look at the area over the years from the early 20th century.
