"Biosurfactants and Bioemulsifers are now considered as green molecules because they are produced from microbes and are easily degradable as compared to surfactants. Their remarkable applications and qualities made them inimitable. They are suitable for commercial applications because of their properties such as low toxicity, wide pH and temperature range, high surface activity, biodegradability, excellent emulsifying and demulsifying ability. In the area of medicine, they gained special importance because they showed antimicrobial activity, antiviral activity, antiadhesive activity and anticancer activity. In cosmetics, biosurfactants can act as wetting agents, solubilizes, dispersants, foaming agents, cleansers, detergents, and emulsion-forming agents and thus play very important role in formulations. In pharmaceuticals, biosurfactants are used mainly as antimicrobial agents and emulsifying agents. Additionally, they are also used successfully in gene discovery and in recovery of intracellular products. Besides their applications in pharmaceutical, medicine and cosmetics they have great applications in agriculture industry, food industry, in oil recovery industry and in environmental pollution control. These biomolecules are produced by many bacteria and fungi such as genus Acinetobacter, Pseudomonas, Serratia, Agrobacterium, Bacillus, Candida, Aspergillus, Trichosporon etc. Although biosurfactants have been proved to be a healthy option they should be used carefully in all above applications.
