Raised a nationalist in Hitler's Germany, Manfred, after combat at places such as Cassino and Normandy, became a POW. He returned to a Communist East Germany. After fleeing to the West and spending years as a refugee he emmigrated to America. With a tenacious spirit he over came poverty and became a successful and patriotic American.
