This book sets out to offer a historical and theoretical analysis of the work of Louis I. Kahn (1901-1974), at the same time seeking to formulate anew the poetic language of his architecture in a fresh context. In Kahn's professional career, marked by his constant pursuit of the essence of architecture, particular distinction must be accorded to the composition and the integrity of his buildings, his respect for materials, his treatment of light as a factor in construction, and the importance he attached to the spatial module and the relationships between the different architectonic elements.
