Numbers are part of our everyday lives. They are also essential in courses as diverse as business, sociology, psychology, economics and accountancy. Many students start courses with a fear of numbers, their knowledge from GCSE exams is partially forgotten and they need reassurance about the basics. Occasionally they need to re-learn topics. This text gives students a firm foundation and grounding in mathematics. It provides them with a chance to test their skills, revise areas they are not sure about and address any gaps in their knowledge. In doing so, it aims to help them to approach further study with increased confidence.
