El reto es por ello adaptar nuestros antiguos edificios a nuestra forma moderna de vivir, sin destruir lo que apreciamos de estas viviendas. Y la adaptación ha significado, en muchas ocasiones, añadir más espacio. Muchas veces en la parte de atrás, en un lateral o en el tejado, e incluso por debajo, para mantener intacta la fachada principal del edificio como parte del paisaje urbanístico. This has meant that a large proportion of architect s work has been adapting these older buildings, rather than building afresh.
