Blessed Jakob Gapp, Austrian Marianist priest and educator, forced into exile by National Socialism, was kidnapped by the Gestapo in Spain, tried in Berlin and convicted of treason to be executed in prison on August 13, 1943. Fifty three years later he was beatified in Rome on November 22, 1996.
