Como es bien conocido, el Libro de traças de cortes de piedras de Alonso de Vandelvira constituye un documento de gran valor histórico por ofrecer la secuencia didáctica que canteros y tracistas debían conocer para dominar el arte de la montea y el corte de piedra.Con el deseo de hacer sus contenidos más comprensibles a quienes se encuentren interesados en el tema, la autora de este libro ha llevado a cabo una investigación muy amplia y profunda, recurriendo a distintas disciplinas científicas. Además de la necesaria contextualización del tratado y de las copias que del mismo se hicieron en el siglo XVII, en este trabajo se valoran y cotejan las circunstancias que pudieron condicionar al arquitecto Alonso de Vandelvira a la hora de intentar difundir su texto. Asimismo, se ha abarcado el estudio de la totalidad de las trazas incluidas en las páginas del manuscrito, contemplando el estado de la cuestión de las mismas hasta el presente, el origen de las formas arquitectónicas desarrolladas y la geometría de trasfondo de cada una.As it is well known, the Libro de traças de cortes de piedras by Alonso de Vandelvira is a document of great historical value for offering the didactic sequence that stonemasons had to know to master the art of stone cutting.In order to make its contents more comprehensible to those interested in the subject, the author of this book has carried out a wide-ranging and in-depth investigation, drawing on different scientifi c disciplines. In addition to the necessary contextualization of the treatise and the copies that were made of it in the 17th century, her work assesses and collates the circumstances that may have conditioned the architect Alonso de Vandelvira when he tried to spread his text. Likewise, the study of all the traces included in the pages of the manuscript has been covered, contemplating the state of the question up to the present day, the origin of the architectural forms they develop and the background geometry of each one.
