This book presents an account of some of the challenges to society involved in multicultural education, together with recent empirical evidence concerning the educational attainments of British pupils of Afro-Caribbean, Asian and British origins. Promising policies and practices are identified. Individuals from different ethnic groups and professional orientations have contributed to this book. The first six chapters are devoted to contemporary, complex and controversial issues; the final six chapters present empirical evidence from national and local studies.
