A quiet autumn morning; a Friday. The narrator wakes up. He began a classical comedy with his cousin Georges, who came from the provinces, his fiancé, who threw herself into the arms of this sad Don Juan, his novel, American, of course, which is elaborated with the memories which color it of Uncle Charles, of grandmother Céleste. And Maman who must marry Hubert ... A fortune falls from heaven, after the end of a dark affair. It is midnight. The comedy ends. The conceit of this novel is that it covers only one day in a man's life, and is written in a single sentence.
