This text eschews the traditional view of the Etruscans as being culturally indebted to Greece and instead uses a detailed examination of hand mirrors, tombs, sanctuaries, houses and cities in order to explain changes in the Etruscan material world, on Etruscan terms, all set within a Mediterranean-wide context.
