About the author

Creció en Gales, Escocia, y a los ocho años sufrió una encefalitis que le hizo perder un año escolar. Esta experiencia se vio reflejada en varias de sus novelas. Estudió Literatura Inglesa en el Murray Edwards College. O’Farrell ha trabajado como periodista en Hong Kong y también como redactora literaria en The Independent. Por otra parte, impartió clases de Escritura Creativa en la Universidad de Warwick y en el Goldsmith’s College. Por el hecho de ser irlandesa sufrió muchas burlas y vejaciones en Inglaterra, tema que trataría en sus obras a partir del 2013, como es el caso de Instrucciones para una ola de calor. Entre sus libros traducidos al castellano también se pueden encontrar Tiene que ser aquí, La primera mano que sostuvo la mía, Sigo aquí y Hamnet, que se convirtió en todo un fenómeno de ventas.
