This grammar of the German language puts forward a detailed picture of the central linguistic knowledge system based on authentic textual examples. It takes account of the spoken language and textual connections, is based on a functional perspective of the semantics of the sentence and attempts to establish a close relationship between syntactic and semantic categorization within the framework of a categorical grammar.
