With availability of high speed computing and many sophisticated software, the design scenario (methodology) has changed in recent years. Advanced numerical techniques are being applied to maritime design activity at concept design stage itself. With increasing competitiveness, it has become necessary to look at the effectiveness of design in economic terms, its management and evaluation of design alternatives.
