Detalls del llibre
This five-volume set features articles reprinted in facsimile by six individuals whose work created and defined the American institutionalist tradition in economics. Institutionalism merits attention because it is a peculiarly American development, and because many of its concerns regarding the role of institutions and the development of an evolutionary approach have been coming back into prominence. V.1 (391-X) and v.2 (392-8) contain papers by Thorstein Bunde Veblen, including excerpts from The Theory of the Leisure Class and The Theory of Business Enterprise. V.3 (393-6) features articles by Richard Theodore Ely on social theory of private property and industrial evolution, and by John Rogers Commons, including excerpts from Legal Foundations of Capitalism and Institutional Economics. Addressing a myriad of topics, among them the empirical method of economic instruction, cost as a standard for price, and the art of spending money, v.4 (394-4), contains writings by Robert Franklin Hoxie and Walton Hale Hamilton; and v.5 (395-2), articles by Wesley Clair Mitchell, and the index to the whole set.
